The WHO analysis states that around 49 million people will be pushed into extreme poverty due to this pandemic.

This may result in a shortage of food.

Needybox is the idea that we developed that enables us to live in a harmonious community by sharing our resources efficiently and effectively. The aim of the app is so that no one gets left out on food. The way the app works is that anyone has any extra food, they can generate a pickup request which will be sent to all the volunteers who have registered with the app. The main duty of the volunteer is to pick up food and to deliver it to the homeless or the ones in need. This app is completely run by volunteers just for the greater good of all countries. Now lets walk through the app and see how it works.

When you open the app, you are greeted with a login screen. Please login with the demo credentials given below. Once logged in, you can arrange a food pickup where you will specify the amount of food and your contact no. Keep in mind that if the location services are on, it will automatically detect your location and fill it in the address field.

Its as simple as that. You can now submit the pickup request and the request will be uploaded to The Needybox database. The next screen that the user will see is the see delivery person screen. Once clicked on the button, it will show noone yet but after your request is accepted by someone, it will automatically refresh and show the delivery person.

Now From the perspective of the delivery person.

You come to the welcome screen, and you see a switch called deliver food, if you enable it you will see a new button that says “show delivery requests” once clicked on that you will be able to see all the delivery requests. Click on one to accept it, or you can call the number and you can also see the directions to the place. Keep in mind that your location services should be on.

Once accepted, in the customer’s see who is coming screen, it will automatically refresh to show your name.

In This way if the delivery person has some free time, he can pick up the food and give it to the homeless or the ones in need. 😊
